Indications/Uses
Essential HTN in patients whose BP is not adequately controlled on losartan or hydrochlorothiazide alone.

Dosage/Direction for Use
50 mg/12.5 mg FC tab Initial & maintenance: 1 tab once daily.

Overdosage

Administration
May be taken with or without food.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity. Pregnancy (2nd & 3rd trimester) & lactation. Hydrochlorothiazide: Anuria, renal decompensation, Addison's disease.

Special Precautions
Pregnancy (1st trimester). Losartan K: Patients w/ renal artery stenosis; vol depletion (eg, those receiving high-dose diuretic therapy). Monitor serum K conc. Hyperkalaemia may occur w/ K-sparing diuretics. Renal & hepatic impairment. Elderly. Hydrochlorothiazide: May precipitate hyperuricemia &/or gout.

Adverse Reactions
Dizziness, headache, dose-related orthostatic hypotension; impaired renal function; hyperkalaemia, myalgia, arthralgia; resp tract disorders, back pain, GI disturbances, fatigue & neutropenia.

Drug Interactions
Losartan K: Potentiated antihypertensive effects w/ other drugs that lower BP. Additive hyperkalaemic effects w/ K supplements, K-sparing diuretics or other drugs that cause hyperkalaemia. Increased risk of renal impairment & attenuate hypotensive effect w/ NSAIDs. Hydrochlorothiazide: May potentiate orthostatic hypotension w/ alcohol, barbiturates, narcotics & antidepressants. Risk of lactic acidosis w/ metformin.
